Mama’s Smashed Yams

A lighter, sexier alternative to Sweet Potato Casserole.

And it makes your kitchen smell wonderful!

Mama's Smashed Yams


Serves 4-6

Rub four medium sized yams or sweet potatoes with olive oil, salt and pepper and a good drizzle of honey. Toss in a few slices of ginger, a sliced up orange and a couple of cinnamon sticks. Roast in the oven at 400 degrees until caramelized on the outside and soft inside. In a pretty serving dish, roughly smash the yams with a fork , skin and all. Season the smashed yams with a little more olive oil, honey, salt and pepper.

Mama’s Special Touch: Top with sage leaves and my Pauline’s Pecans before serving for a little bit o’ crunch.
